Due to the great interest in the exhibition dedicated to Ferre Grignard and his connection with the Verbeke Foundation, we are bringing the works from this remarkable exhibition to Antwerp for a second chapter. This offers the many enthusiasts who missed the original show the opportunity to discover Ferre Grignard’s extensive oeuvre in a solo exhibition presented across the different floors of Fabriek Noord.

Ferre Grignard rose to fame in 1966 as a musician with his debut record Ring Ring, I’ve Got to Sing, followed by songs such as Drunken Sailor, Crucified Jesus, and She’s Gone. His music and personality made him an icon of the rebellious spirit of the 1960s. Yet alongside the guitar, there was also the paintbrush. Ferre had been creating visual art even before his musical breakthrough and continued to do so throughout his life.

This exhibition at Fabriek Noord highlights that other, lesser-known yet equally passionate side of Ferre: the artist. For the first time, a comprehensive overview of his paintings, drawings, and graphic works is presented here, revealing the same energy, freedom, and expressive force that also characterize his music.
