FERRE GRIGNARD & BAND
NOVEMBER - APRIL
This exhibition runs from November 22, 2025 until April 11, 2026.
Ferre Grignard rose to fame in 1966 with his debut record Ring Ring, I’ve Got to Sing, followed by songs such as Drunken Sailor, Crucified Jesus and She’s Gone. His music and personality made him an icon of the rebellious spirit of the 1960s. Yet alongside the guitar, there was also the paintbrush. Long before his musical breakthrough, Ferre was already creating visual art – a practice he continued throughout his life. This exhibition at Fabriek Noord highlights this other, lesser-known but equally passionate side of Ferre: the visual artist. For the first time, a comprehensive selection of his paintings, drawings and graphic
works is presented, revealing the same energy and freedom that define his music. In addition to Ferre’s own work, the exhibition also features artworks by his musical companions from the Ferre Grignard Skiffle Group: Emile De Somer, Jef Kersting, Johan Koopmans, Eddy Mertens, Butch Peleman, George Smits and Mike Zinzen. Works by Fred Bervoets, Ferre’s close friend and kindred spirit since 1958, are also on display.
